Print- Method description
Free polyphenols are extracted using an acidic methanol solution. Bound polyphenols are digested with a strong alkaline, neutralized, and extracted with acidic methanol. All sample extracts are reacted with a Folin-Ciocalteu's reagent and sodium carbonate. The colored product can be read at 765 nm and compared to a Gallic Acid standard curve run concurrently.
