Method Description:
The fat in a sample is extracted into acetone and titrated with sodium hydroxide. Rancidity is calculated as percent Free Fatty Acid expressed as oleic acid.
Additional Information:
Samples are frozen immediately after they are prepped. Testing must occur within 3 days of sample prep.
If this test is requested after the sample has been prepped, new sample may need to be provided for accurate analysis.
